Residential elevators are the new trend in modern homes and condominiums. Before, having an elevator built into your home was more of a luxury, but with new technology and affordable prices, elevators and lifts can be installed into existing homes and be customized to match the home’s décor. But what about small office buildings and churches? These establishments may not have adequate room for a traditional commercial sized elevator. These types of buildings call for an Elevation LU/LA (Limited Use, Limited Access) elevator.
What is a Limited Use, Limited Access elevator?
An Elevation LU/LA is a cost effective, small and safe elevator designed to be smaller in size in order to fit into smaller areas in a commercial setting. LU/LAs are limited in usage, and are typically 18 square feet in size, which is large enough for a single wheelchair. Because the lift can hold a maximum capacity of 1,400 pounds, some commercial LU/LAs are used to haul equipment from floor to floor.
Installation Process
Traditional commercial elevators will typically need lots of space to be installed into a building, and most of the time, an elevator is planned during the construction of the building. With a LU/LA, you won’t need to have a building built from the ground up just to have an elevator installed. LU/LA require a small amount of space and can be built out of an old closet or empty space within the building. Since LU/LA are designed for limited usage, only disabled persons are allowed to ride the lift, or the lift can only be used to haul equipment between floors.
